![]() Hundreds of workers representing public servants and service providers across the District came together last weekend at AFSCME District Council 20's membership convention. Under the theme “Understanding our past we prepare for our future,” participants spent the weekend discussing new internal and external efforts to strengthen the union, and gaining new tools to be stronger leaders in their workplaces. "AFSCME District Council 20 is on the move coming out of our convention," Council 20 Executive Director Andrew Washington (right) told Union City. "We will be unified as we make DC happen!" Guests and speakers at the convention included AFSCME president Lee Saunders (at left), D.C. City Council Chair Phil Mendelson, and Metro Council Executive Director Carlos Jimenez. Washington, Council 20 Executive Director and a vice president at the Metro Washington Council, was re-elected, along with a new slate of officers. The new leadership consists of Robert Hollingsworth (president), Barry Carey (vice president), Michael Flood (secretary-treasurer) and Felicia Dantzler (recording secretary). Comments are closed.
