Appreciating DC Teachers
Back in the day, students would bring teachers an apple; this week, they’ll get donuts. As a token of the union’s appreciation for District teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week” May 4th-8th, Washington Teachers' Union Local 6 (WTU) will deliver Krispy Kreme donuts to the 4,500 teachers in DC’s remaining 112 public schools. WTU welcomes other area union support. “If you, or any member of your organization would like to volunteer to assist us with delivering donuts to our teachers, please contact Dorothy Egbufor at [email protected] or 202-517-1458 or 202-498-3247 (cell),” says WTU president Liz Davis. “We will provide $20 gas cards and, of course, Krispy Kreme donuts!” WTU is also applauding area churches and community organizations which will recognize “the amazing work that teachers have done, and continue to do for our children and their communities during National Teacher Appreciation Week.”
