Workers at the Center for Public Integrity have just joined the Washington-Baltimore News Guild, Local 32035. CPI, one the country’s oldest and largest nonpartisan, nonprofit investigative news organizations, agreed to voluntarily recognize the union. “Please welcome the dedicated journalists from The Center for Public Integrity to the Washington-Baltimore News Guild family,” said Guild organizer Bruce Jett. CPI’s mission is to serve democracy by revealing abuses of power, corruption and betrayal of public trust by powerful public and private institutions using the tools of investigative journalism. At the November 19 Metro Washington Council meeting, the following new delegates were sworn in: Djawa Hall (1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East MD/DC); Orne' Banks (SEIU Local 722); Kevin Lin (IFPTE Local 70).
