![]() District Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, U.S. Congressman Don Beyer (D-VA) and U.S. Congressman Connolly (D-VA) were among those rallying in support of striking airport workers Thursdayoutside National Airport, along with Service Employees International President Mary Kay Henry (right), SEIU 32BJ’s Jaime Contreras and Plymouth United Church of Christ Pastor Graylan Hagler. "I am proud to stand with Northern Virginia airport workers as they fight for dignity and fair wages,” said Connolly. “These men and women are my constituents and our neighbors. They work long hours doing difficult work and shouldn’t have to live in poverty or work multiple jobs just to survive.” Workers started their first-ever strikeWednesday night – part of a 24-hour strike at six US airports -- to protest charges of unlawful termination, threats of retaliation and intimidation committed by their employers, Eulen America and Airport Terminal Services Inc., who service Delta and American Airlines, among others. DCA’s contracted airport service workers are excluded from the airport's living wage law and earn as little as $3.77 plus tips. Photos courtesy Fox 5 news (top) and Raise Up 15 Comments are closed.
