![]() The Cement Masons union workshop was transformed into a fashion runway recently for ten Building Futures students who modeled new-to-them business suits from A Wider Circle’s mobile clothing closet. “Building Futures is grateful to A Wider Circle, who not only pulled fabulous, professional clothes out of that big white van, but also respect, hope, and encouragement for our Building Futures students,” said Jennifer Gajdosik. Read more… photo by Jennifer Gajdosik In addition to slacks and jackets, students chose dress shoes, fitted shirts, belts, and ties that had been hand-selected based on measurements provided to A Wider Circle. Kim Canary, Marketing and Merchandise Manager of the Professional Development Center at A Wider Circle, served as a personal shopper, along with a volunteer, helping students choose items that fit and flattered them from the name-brand clothes available. Students helped each other practice tying ties and while most students left with one suit and a couple of shirts and ties, one lucky student found three suits that fit perfectly. “These students have worked very hard towards their career goals over the past six weeks of class and they each stood a little taller the next day when they showed up to class for Mock Interview Day with real employers,” said Gajdosik.
