![]() Stephen Courtien, Field Representative for CHOICE (Community Hub for Opportunities In Construction Employment) received the 2014 Friend of Contractor award from the Construction Alliance on September 3. “Today's building trades unions are placing a high priority on becoming collaborative, problem-solving partners, not only with contractors, but with community groups and city leaders,” said Courtien. “In the end, what we at CHOICE are doing is building a model for how business, labor, community and government leaders can all work together to make the District of Columbia a shining example for other metropolitan areas to emulate.” The Construction Alliance is a new organization made up of minority businesses in the District of Columbia. In a related story, CHOICE Executive Director Mark Coles recently appeared on the Center Maryland show to discuss construction projects in the region – including Cove Point, MGM, and the Purple Line – which are poised to offer thousands of well-paying jobs to Marylanders in the construction industry. photo (l-r): Maria Patricia (Hispanic Contractors Association, Stanley Jackson (Anacostia Economic Development Corporation), Alberto Gomez (Prince Construction Company) and Courtien Comments are closed.
