![]() With this year’s holiday season fast approaching, the Metro Washington Council’s Community Services Agency is preparing to meet the needs of local families in crisis. “There are four easy ways you can help,” says CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy. 1: Make a contribution to the Community Services Agency earmarked for “Holiday Baskets” 2: Collect non-perishable canned and boxed food - call 202-974-8221 for pick-up or delivery arrangements; deadlines November 20 and December 13. 3: Collect grocery store gift cards from area union grocery stores (Giant, Safeway, Shoppers) or discount store cards (other than Walmart please!) and get them to CSA no later than the week before each holiday. 4: Adopt a Family and provide food, funds, toys etc through your local or organization- call 202-974-8221 for details. If you have members who are seriously in need who have not been helped before by this program, refer them to [email protected]. “We will have limited funds and want to help the ones most in need,” McKirchy adds. “Please refer only those folks who are out of work, would have no chance of providing for themselves or their families without help, have serious financial situations through no fault of their own and/or have not been helped in past years." photo: ATU’s Gail Starkey and Steve George with food and gift cards collected from ATU staff in December 2014; photo by Kathleen McKirchy Comments are closed.
