Workers for the DC Circulator, employed by private contract First Transit, were greeted with deplorable restroom conditions when they arrived at work last month. Large gaps in the wall allowed birds to enter and build nests in the men’s room, and a sign asked employees to leave the restroom door closed “due to insects.” “DC Circulator workers and riders are fighting to end privatization and bring the Circulator in-house,” reported ATU Local 1764, which represents Circulator and other transportation workers. “In addition to buses that are dangerous and aren't properly maintained, we've got birds and bugs taking over the joint on 17th Street... DDOT can do better.”
