For more than a decade, Nowak has been running creative writing workshops with workers centers and trade unions, helping workers put their stories to paper. Nowak’s recent books including Shut Up Shut Down and Coal Mountain Elementary, a book historian Howard Zinn called “a stunning educational tool.” Over the past dozen years he has facilitated writers’ workshops with workers centers and trade unions across the US, Europe, Latin American, and South Africa.
