DC teachers last week unanimously rejected the latest DCPS contract offer and plan to rally tomorrow morning at 8a (see Calendar at right) for a fair contract. The teachers have now gone six years without a pay increase and say the latest offer falls far short on pay while demanding unilateral authority over the length of the school year. “If DC wants to cultivate and retain the best and brightest teachers, the city needs to #PlayFair&PayFair,” said WTU 6 president Elizabeth Davis. “Our students, our schools and our teachers deserve better!” With contract talks at a critical point, the union is urging members and supporters to “join us on Freedom Plaza tomorrow to make your voice heard and show your support and solidarity!” photo courtesy WTU Facebook page
