![]() Dozens of local union electricians turned out on November 18 for a community service project at the Lincoln Heights Housing Development in northeast DC. Organized by IBEW Local 26’s Electrical Workers Minority Caucus in partnership with the District of Columbia Housing Department as part of the IBEW’s International Day of Service, journeymen, apprentices and family members installed electrical switches and receptacles for local families. “It’s win-win for everyone,” explained Larry Greenhill Sr. “The city saves money, the community receives a quality electrical installation and the union members have an opportunity to give back to families in need.” During the annual Day of Service, IBEW locals across the country perform community service projects on the same day for a four-hour time frame. “It's the IBEW's way of showing its support for working families,” said Greenhill.
