Workers from the Horseshoe Baltimore Casino will celebrate their first union contract with a rally and march this Thursday in Baltimore. Members of UNITE HERE, IATSE, UAW, IUOE and the Teamsters will rally at McKeldin Square “to announce this great victory and then march to City Hall,” reports Unite Here Local 7. “This first time agreement will make over 1000 jobs in Baltimore City much better paying and more secure,” the union adds. “Because more money is going into the pockets of local workers that means more money stays in our local economy. We will be calling on Baltimore City officials to use their offices to push employers to meet the needs of our local communities.” October 19 is a National Day of Action for Unite Here across the country and in the DMV area; actions will also be held at Dulles Airport and in downtown DC; click here for details.
