Jeff Rickert, who worked for the AFL-CIO’s Working for America Institute, passed away last Thursday at 42 after a sudden illness. As an undergrad at GW, he started the Neighbors Project connecting students with community service, and received GW’s Martin Luther King Community Service award. After earning his MS in economic sociology at University of Wisconsin - Madison, Rickert returned to DC to advocate for good green jobs, bringing together labor and environmentalists with his work at the Apollo Alliance, Campaign for America's Future, Green for All, and the AFL-CIO. A memorial service will be held in DC in January. Donations in his memory may be made to the Jeff Rickert Memorial Fund.
