Introducing Strategic Campaigns Organizer Megan Fitzgerald

11/1/2016

Prior to joining the Metro Washington Council, Strategic Campaigns Organizer Megan Fitzgerald was at the National Association of Letter Carriers, where she worked closely with the membership, activating letter carriers to create a strong political and legislative program. She’s also worked as an organizer on the Scott Walker Recall in Wisconsin, Field Director for Mark Herring’s successful campaign for Attorney General in Virginia, Regional Field Director for a successful congressional race in New York State and Regional Field Director for a successful State Senate race in Virginia. “My experience working for the Virginia State Assembly helps me understand the importance of local government and how much it affects the daily lives of working people,” says Fitzgerald. At the Metro Washington Council, Fitzgerald is looking to develop strong relationships with Council affiliates to “create a movement that supports working families in the region.” Metro Council Executive Director Carlos Jimenez says that “Megan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Council, and in her brief time with us has already shown herself to be an incredible asset, adding value and helping out wherever she can. We’re extremely lucky to have found someone of her caliber and talent.” Originally from Northern Virginia, Fitzgerald now lives in Silver Spring, where she enjoys painting, cooking and exploring the area.
