Jackie L. Jeter has been elected to complete her fourth term as President and Business Agent of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689, sweeping 68% of the vote. And at CWA 2108, Marilyn Irwin was re-elected president last month. Jeter, along with Financial Secretary-Treasurer Esker “Butch” Bilger, Recording Secretary Brenda Thomas, First Vice President Carroll “Popeye” Thomas and Second Vice President Raymond Jackson will return as the union-wide elected top officers of ATU 689. “One thing that everyone at Local 689, and throughout this region, can agree on is that Metro is at a breaking point,” Jeter said. “I am thankful to the membership for re-electing me and allowing me to continue my service to our members as we stand together to make Local 689 a more perfect union and Metro a better system.” Other officers elected at CWA 2108 include Executive Vice President Amory Proctor, Secretary-Treasurer Johnny Brown and Vice Presidents Matt Klingman and LaTasha Carpenter.
