KAISER HEALTH INFORMATION COMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIANS VOTE TO JOIN LOCAL 2

Employees in the medical records group at Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic have voted overwhelmingly to join OPEIU Local 2. “This is good news,” said one worker. “We needed a union. Maybe now our voices can be heard, especially about how things impact your life and your health.” 

The employees voted in a card count election as part of a neutrality agreement between Kaiser and a coalition of 30 labor organizations representing Kaiser Permanente employees. “The neutrality agreement is an important part of a cooperative relationship under the National Labor Management Partnership,” said Local 2 organizer Lou Wolf. “The partnership is designed to give employees, management and unions a way to work together to achieve mutual goals for higher quality health care, a better place to work, job security and greater employee involvement.” Kaiser employee issues were particularly focused on job security, schedules and leave.
