Letter Carriers Branch 3825 in Rockville reports that they collected 72,940 pounds of food during the annual Letter Carriers Food Drive on the Saturday before Mother’s Day. Said Shearly Shawn, Food Drive Coordinator for the branch, “ I would like to thank everyone, especially those carriers who volunteered their time after work to sort the food and prepare it for transport.” Shawn indicated that the food was delivered to food banks in Montgomery County. “Lots of food banks run short about this time of year so this is a very timely infusion for them to be able to help reduce hunger in the metro area. Kudos to Branch 3825 and the other NALC branches in the area which also participated,” said CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy.
