Well over 100 area labor leaders and rank-and-file activists turned out for Monday night's lively Meet & Greet session with candidates for County Executive in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Next year promises to be a critical year for the local labor community, with dozens of key races across the Metro Council's jurisdiction, and at the event president Jackie Jeter stressed the “urgent need for political involvement” at all levels. Also speaking at the event were various young labor leaders who have decided to run for office. “We’re especially pleased to see so many young union members here tonight,” said PG County COPE Chair Doris Reed (ASASP), adding that the Metro Council appreciated everyone’s support and help making it a successful event.
