![]() Calling Marion Barry an "agitator for justice," Metro Washington Council President Jos Williams on Sunday mourned the death of DC Councilman -- and former Mayor -- Marion Barry... Barry "was a strong and true advocate for the same constituency labor works to represent," said Williams, "helping people work their way out of poverty. He supported the collective bargaining process for public employees, made the DC government more open to inclusive hiring and brought people out of poverty. He was an agitator for justice from very early, honed those skills to become a master at energizing and including people from every walk of life in every part of our nation's capital."
"Marion Barry kept going," said Williams, "overcame adversity and was an inspiration to generations of activists who will continue to fight for the people and future of our great city." photo courtesy Washington City Paper
