![]() Members of the labor community and allies are invited to join a peaceful direct action event on Juneteenth in support of the Black Lives Matter movement from 5-8p (see Calendar). The effort is being coordinated by a group of unions that includes the Painters, Ironworkers District Council of The Mid-Atlantic States, the Union Veterans Council and Metro Washington Council affiliates. "In addition to being a “call to the streets to stand up for the ideals that this country was founded on but not lived up to,” the group says “We must work towards a more perfect union with Liberty and Justice for ALL!” It also notes that “As members of the labor movement, we fully understand the power of one's voice and solidarity. Here is your opportunity to add your voice to the call for racial justice. We must make this moment a movement.” Locals or individuals who would like to donate food or water can contact David Stephen at [email protected] Comments are closed.
