LiUNA’s Victoria Leonard (right) attended the monthly meeting of the Montgomery County Civic Federation on Monday night to promote legislation to extend job security for the county’s sanitation workers. The county contracts out its residential trash collection, and if the contractors change, the workers -- who are members of LiUNA -- would have no job protection. Other contracted workers in the county have protections, including janitors and security guard workers in private buildings. LiUNA is working with the Montgomery County Council to move this legislation early in the new session in January.
