“Republicans are trying to bust federal unions in a variety of ways,” warns AFSCME Council 26 Executive Director Carl Goldman. “A recent report in The Washington Post details an attempt to intimidate rank-and-file union leaders.” Goldman reports that there are also proposals to ban "official time," which is used to represent federal employees, negotiate and confer with management on the clock. “There is another proposal to eliminate the voluntary withholding of union dues by government agencies, which would bankrupt unions. We shall not be moved!”
