![]() A dozen local labor communicationsstaffers gathered Friday at UFCW Local 400's offices in Landover to discuss strategies for major current campaigns, including the CWA/IBEW strike against Verizon and Local 400's #savemystore campaign. The use of social media and especially mass texting tools was a major focus, given the rapidly-developing nature of both campaigns. Metro Council Executive Director Carlos Jimenez shared highlights of recent polling findings on attitudes towards unions, and suggested that an extended retreat might provide a welcome opportunity to plan longer-term strategies for Council affiliates and allies. The May meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 20 and is open to staff of metro-area unions who do communications work; click here to RSVP. photo by Chris Garlock/Union City Comments are closed.
