Parents, educators, and union and community members from around the state are coming to Annapolis for the March for Our Schools tonight at 6p (see Calendar). “Maryland public schools are underfunded by $2.9 billion annually — an average of $2 million in every school across the state,” says the Maryland State Education Association, which is organizing the march. “It’s time to raise our voices and end the underfunding of our schools.” MSEA and its allies are lobbying for equitable and adequate funding for all schools and students; more staff, including counselors and psychologists; better pay for educators; universal pre-kindergarten; expanded career and technical education; more funding for special education and English language learners. “Our kids can’t wait. Students, educators, and schools deserve better.”
