![]() Sixteen elected officials representing parts of Montgomery County on Tuesday delivered a joint letter to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) requesting the agency “review its relationship with Challenger,” a private company contracted to provide MetroAccess paratransit service to county residents. The letter points to past performance issues with Challenger as well as an escalating labor dispute (MontCo paratransit workers prepare for strike 8/30/2019) between the company and its 190 employees, who have authorized but not yet set a date for a strike. In their message, the elected officials called on WMATA to “evaluate whether Mr. Mohebbi is meeting his moral and legal obligations to the agency, MetroAccess riders, and to the Maryland residents he employs.” Comments are closed.
