After launching DDOTCanDoBetter.com last week to educate the riding public about safety and labor issues at the D.C. Circulator, ATU Local 1764 has also launched a new Twitter account (@DDOTCanDoBetter), a petition to DDOT for supporters to sign, and has released a powerful new video in collaboration with the Washington Interfaith Network exploring the link between private companies exploiting skilled workers who used to earn a living wage as public employees who are now struggling to survive working for private for-profit contractors. With DDOT preparing to roll out its cherry blossom-themed bus, the union is urging activists to take to Twitter with the hashtags #blossumbus and #DDOTCanDoBetter to oppose privatization.
