Norton Gets Nod from MD/DC AFL-CIO
After DC Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D) spoke last Sunday at the Maryland State/D.C. AFL-CIO Biennial Convention, the labor organization surprised Norton by giving the Congresswoman her first endorsement for the 2016 election. “Labor’s endorsement has been a special inspiration to my work for the rights of workers, income equality, fair pay and working conditions, and statehood,” said a visibly moved Norton. In a related story, Norton said the Trans-Pacific Partnership “appears to fall short in numerous ways” after yesterday’s release of the full text of the TPP agreement. “The American people deserve better and we can do better,” Norton said. “I will continue to work with my congressional colleagues to defeat this TPP agreement so we can work on trade deals that benefit America’s families and workers.”
