More than 400 turned out Friday night to celebrate retiring NoVA Labor president Dan Duncan's legacy. "Door by door, letter by letter, call by call, it's fitting that Dan's getting NoVA's achievement award," said UFCW Local 400 president Mark Federici. "When he first started work, Virginia was red, red, red. Dan's legacy is that despite all the craziness in the papers these days I can throw down the paper and I can say Donald Trump did not win Virginia." Virginia Congressman Gerry Connolly credited Duncan with "making a difference in a difficult political environment." Duncan returned the love and solidarity, saying "You guys are family and why I get up every morning and fight." Among other awardees were SEIU 32BJ and Unite Here Local 23, who won organizing awards for their work with low wage workers at National and Dulles.
