About a dozen union volunteers braved cold temperatures and rain Saturday to urge labor households in Virginia's 34th House District to vote Tuesday for endorsed candidate Kathleen Murphy. "This election is all about turnout," said NoVA Labor President Daniel Duncan. "We have a good record of getting our members to the polls in recent winter special elections and want to keep that string going." Walks and phone banks continue on Sunday, January 4th from 11 am to 1:00 pm, Monday, January 5th from 10 am to 5 pm and Election Day January 6th from 9 am to 6 pm, all based out of NoVA at 4536-B John Marr Dr., Annandale, VA. "This race is very close, each person we contact could make the difference!" says Duncan...
Among those helping were members from AFGE, AFT, CWA, IBEW, the Iron Workers, Seafarers, TWU and Plumbers. In addition, Working America has been walking precincts for this election. Regular polling locations in the 34th will be open 6 am to 7 pm Tuesday.
