 The Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU) has filed charges against the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) for firing all the workers in the bargaining unit, in what NPEU says is “retaliation against the staff asking for voluntary recognition of their union.” The union adds that “By busting their staff’s union and retaliating against collective action, (NCTE has) done a disservice to their organization’s own mission.” Noting that one in six transgender workers have lost a job due to discrimination, NPEU says that NCTE “has not only taken away the staff’s livelihood, but has hurt the movement for transgender equality.”
