The Community Services Agency’s Emergency Assistance Fund received a welcome boost when the Omni Shoreham Hotel credited the Metro Washington Council $3,500 after a parking fiasco at this year’s Evening With Labor left many participants waiting up to two hours to retrieve their cars after the March 14 event. The Metro Council’s Executive Board and delegates on April 20 approved the EWL committee’s recommendation that the credit be donated to CSA as there was no practical way to return it to those inconvenienced on March 14. “We appreciate the support, and applaud the Omni for doing the right thing,” said CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy, who noted that the Omni has also replaced the parking contractor. “This contribution will enable us to continue assisting those families most in need,” McKirchy added.
