While donations of food, water, shelter and medical aid usually come pouring in after natural disasters, families with babies, small children, or elderly family members often need more specialized help. That's why members of OPEIU Local 2 decided to assist hurricane victims in Texas and Florida with a Diaper Drive. Last Friday, the local sorted, packed and shipped 22 boxes of baby and adult diapers, wipes, baby necessities, kids clothes and toys collected during a two-week drive. “As a parent of two young children, I can’t imagine being without essentials to keep my children healthy and safe,” said OPEIU Rising Stars Chair Caniesha Washington.
