Paid Family Leave moves forward in DC
Supporters of the DC Paid Family Leave campaign are celebrating after news broke Wednesday night that Mayor Muriel Bowser would not veto the legislation. Despite concerns, Mayor Bowser said that the legislation "attempts to advance a DC value that we share: that DC families should have time to care for themselves and their loved ones," and would instead seek to make improvements as the bill moves through the budget and implementation process. "The days of having to choose between your job and your health -- or that of your loved ones -- are coming to an end," said Metro Washington Council Executive Director Carlos Jimenez. "We now set our sights on Annapolis and ensuring that Maryland follows the example DC set with this incredible victory."
