This year's DC LaborFest soccer scarves came in handy as labor soccer fans bundled up for Saturday's third annual DC United Union Night. Thirteen locals purchased over 500 tickets for the game against the Philadelphia Union, including Painters DC 51, Community Hub for Opportunities in Construction Employment (CHOICE), Laborers’ District Council, Baltimore/Washington, AFGE 2741, SEIU 722, IATSE 22, UFCW 400, IAM Lodge 1759, AFGE 2741, OPEIU 277, AFSCME 709, AFSCME 3097 and the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild. Unfortunately, the Philadelphia Union presence was too strong, routing the hometown team 4-0; clearly a larger local union presence will be needed next year to ensure victory.
