Power Design, an electrical contractor with a growing presence in the District working in high-end buildings and making massive profits, is the target of a protest this morning (see Calendar) because of accusations of wage theft. “The people who are doing the hard work of actually building these buildings are too often exploited by their bosses,” says DC Jobs with Justice. While the company got a $46 million tax abatement in exchange for the promise of good jobs, “Unfortunately, we can't expect that from Power Design,” says JWJ. “With over 10 lawsuits for wage theft, they are a threat to District workers.”
