![]() The new soccer stadium proposal supported by the DC-area building trades has picked up support from former NAACP President Ben Jealous. “As somebody who has lived and worked much of my life in the District, I know that this project is a win-win for the District and its residents,” says Jealous in a short video... “Not only does it include new construction, new jobs and increased tax revenue, it also includes a Project Labor Agreement that guarantees that half of these jobs will go to current DC residents.” The DC Council is currently considering a proposal to build a new soccer stadium at Buzzard Point, which includes construction on the site of the Reeves Center at 14th and U as well as a new municipal building in Ward 8. “Washington has seen an explosion of growth in recent years, but it has not spread evenly,” said Jealous, who’s now a partner at Kapor Capital. “We all like to see growth that stretches to every corner of our city and benefits every ward. We need more projects like this one to help us spread growth and increase prosperity for all DC residents.”
