A panel of labor leaders and activists will discuss “the tremendous work being done to continue to build the recruitment and training and the leadership of women in the building trades” at “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Women n the Trades” today (see Calendar). The panelists – including AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler, North America's Building Trades Unions Secretary-Treasurer Brent Booker, and IBEW Local 26’s Cordelia McCoy, will shine a spotlight on the Trades Women Build Nations Conference, on community partnerships that recruit women into apprentice programs, on the potential to recruit women veterans into the trades, and on how this all builds economic power for women workers. The panel will be followed by a reception to close the AFL-CIO lobby exhibit "On Equal Terms" from artist and IBEW sister Susan Eisenberg, celebrating the history of women in the trades. photo by Chris Garlock
