Citing the constant attacks on the press as “enemies of the people,” the Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO is honoring the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild at its annual Salute to Leadership, coming up June 21. “All of us who believe in a free press and democracy have a duty to be aware and to protect our journalists and press media workers,” says State Fed president Donna Edwards. “These workers are only doing their jobs as fact finders to inform the people and are being threatened every day.” Edwards noted that the United States is now on the list of most dangerous countries to be a journalist. Deadline for ads is this Friday; contact Kim Tucker at [email protected] or 301-261-1400 for details on ads and/or tickets.
