On June 25, the DC chapter of the National Lawyers Guild will host their first annual awards, honoring dean Katherine “Shelley” Broderick, from the UDC David Clarke School of Law. And on June 28, the DC Coalition of Labor Union Women will honor Gwend Johnson (CWA/DC CBTU) and Carol Rosenblatt (AFSCME/CLUW DC) at the annual Gloria Johnson Awards. Metro Council president Jos Williams and the AFL-CIO’s Damon Silvers are the honorees at Lumina Studio Theatre’s upcoming Gala: Twelfth Night: Magic on the Boardwalk on Saturday, June 27th. Williams and Silvers participated in last year’s performance of “Brother Hal’ and “sent a strong message to theatre goers and the young actors that the issues of the 1930s are very much with us today and that labor is part of our community,” says Lumina’s Ann Greiner.
