DC-area seniors – including many from the labor movement -- will march, rally and demonstrate at four major banks in downtown DC today (see Calendar) as part of a national day of action across the US to pressure the banks to stop financing the expansion of the fossil fuel industry. The local actions are among more than 100 events in over half the U.S. states taking place across the country. The day, which will culminate in a rocking chair blockade, is being organized by Third Act, a group for climate activists over 60 years, with more than 50 local and national partners. Featured are Bill McKibben of Third Act, Ben Jealous of the Sierra Club, Climate Scientist Rose Abramoff, Retired DC Labor Council President Joslyn Williams, and music by the DC Labor Chorus and Joe Uehlein & The U-Liners.
