Tarlau Steps Up on “Women’s Issues”
CWA member Jimmy Tarlau is one of four freshmen Maryland delegates who made history recently by joining Women Legislators of Maryland, the nation’s oldest state women’s caucus. Tarlau (D-Prince George’s County), told Washington Post columnist Petula Dvorak that things like equal pay, child care and paid family leave “aren’t just women’s issues; these are issues that affect the whole family.” Tarlau is a member of the Metro Washington Council’s Executive Board. Also joining were Del. Erek L. Barron (D-Prince George’s County), Del. Andrew Platt (D-Montgomery County) and Del. Will Smith (D-Montgomery County); the four are the first men in the nation to join a state women’s caucus.
