Staff at the anti-poverty Center on Budget and Policy Priorities have decided to join one of the fastest-growing unions in town: the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU). The union and CBPP management are in talks to voluntarily recognize the staffers’ union through a card check, said NPEU president Alan Barber. If CBPP staff join, it will mark the third successful campaign for NPEU in two years and will expand membership from 250 to about 335. Staff are seeking higher pay and clearer definition of management policies, said Barber. Read more here.
