![]() Justice@Smithfield organizer Gene Bruskin will join author Lynn Waltz tonight at the Takoma Busboys and Poets (see calendar) to discuss her new book, “Hog Wild,” which details the 16-year campaign to win a union at “the largest slaughterhouse in the world.” “Lynn Waltz really did her homework in this book,” said Bruskin, “providing an in-depth look at the courageous workers and leaders who struggled against all odds to beat this giant corporation.” This Thursday, the Great Labor Arts Exchange will kick off a weekend of workshops, music, jam sessions and more, starting at 2pm at the Tommy Douglas Conference Center in Silver Spring. “Bring your instrument, your voice, your beat box, your song, your poem, your story or just yourself!” The Poor People’s Campaign will host multiple events in the District this week to culminate 40 days of action, and plot the future for the multi-year effort.
