Today in Labor History
On this date in 1921, striking milk drivers dumped thousands of gallons of milk on New York City streets.
And in 2009, some 5,000 Philadelphia-area public transit workers began what was to be a 6-day strike centered on wages and pension benefits. Those transit workers struck again last Tuesday, walking out after failing to reach a contract agreement; talks are underway but as of yesterday afternoon, no settlement was in sight.
