![]() Membership has exploded since Joseph Fulks (right) was thrust into his role as AFGE Local 445 president. Formerly a vice president for the union, he handled grievances and was the “go-to guy” for coworkers. After the previous president stepped down and he took over, Fulks had a vision for his local, which represents TSA workers at Dulles airport, but “I realized I needed to increase membership.” With staff assistance from AFGE District 4, Fulks was able to double membership in only six months. “The main thing that got the workforce excited is that I spent years representing employees. I followed through on stuff and handled hundreds of cases. So when the workforce heard I took over, they already had a sense of trust,” he explained. Read more about Local 445’s success here.
