In recognition of World Day Against Child Labor, to two DC-area events are being sponsored this week by the Child Labor Coalition. “End Child Labor In Supply Chains - It's Everyone's Business” is today at 1p and a film screening and panel discussion of “The Same Heart” is tomorrow at 6:30p. Today’s panel discussion focuses on approaches for addressing child labor in supply chains, with experts from civil society and the private sector including ILRF Executive Director Judy Gearhart. With vivid and often beautiful footage of hard places to grow up in, The Same Heart documents how global inequality fuels child labor, generational cycles of poverty and egregious violations of fundamental human rights.
