It turned out Kroger had mishandled his transfer to the meat department and he had been misclassified as a clerk. His UFCW Local 400 union rep stepped in and he was ultimately awarded $31,855 in back pay. “It wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t had my union there to help me,” Pete said. “Everyone should join our union.
