 Pete worked as a part-time meat cutter at Kroger in Appomattox for years. One day, he noticed his pension seemed low. It turned out Kroger had mishandled his transfer to the meat department and he had been misclassified as a clerk. His UFCW Local 400 union rep stepped in and he was ultimately awarded $31,855 in back pay. “It wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t had my union there to help me,” Pete said. “Everyone should join our union.
