UFCW/MCGEO 1994 welcomes new staff

​UFCW/MCGEO Local 1994 welcomed two new field representatives and a new organizer -- Frank Santos Fritz, John Barry, and Rosa Ortiz -- over the summer. Fritz was the field director for Marc Elrich’s successful primary campaign for Montgomery County Executive, and previously worked as a research intern for Unite Here Local 23. As a Baltimore teacher, Barry helped organize the Maryland Institute College of Art Part Time Faculty Union and has also organized full time and part time faculty with SEIU International and SEIU Local 500. Ortiz is an organizer who joined Local 1994 from Certified Building Services, where she was fired because of her union activity and leadership when she and her coworkers at CBS sought to organize. Since then, Ortiz has been a part of five of Local 1994’s successful organizing campaigns.
