![]() Operating engineers have been part of the construction team working on tunnels to protect DC's rivers. IUOE Local 77 members have been working for the last five years on DC Water’s Clean Rivers Project, which aims to capture water pollution during heavy rainfalls. “We're really proud of the work Local 77’s operators have done on this project, and we're looking forward to building the next phase," Local 77 Business Manager Joshua VanDyke said. Two tunnel projects have already been completed, one in 2015, the other in 2016. Workers are currently working on the Anacostia River Tunnel which they expect to complete by the end of this year.
