People first, please: "A gently worded request for the use of people-first language" (Union workers protest safety conditions at Potomac Center in Hagerstown), writes Colleen O'Neill. "(Instead of) 'mentally challenged individuals,' people-first, inclusionary language would be preferable: 'individuals with mental challenges.' Or more likely, 'individuals with mental illness challenges' or 'individuals with developmental disabilities.'"
